How to Make Things Happen in 2016
2015 has been a pretty rad year. I lived in Thailand, worked as Scuba Dive Instructor. Traveled the country on only local transport from north to south and moved to Australia. Sure it also had its downs, not to mention the bike accidents, the hours over hours of work to find me being ripped off at the end of the contract or almost losing a friend when he crashed his bike and fighting for his life for weeks.
But it is also those moments which make you appreciating the good stuff in your life even more – the glorious moments! And to be honest, I can’t complain about the amount if glorious moments I have. To me it is important to mention that I create those moments myself. They don’t just appear, I can’t buy them with my credit card and it’s not just good luck I may have. No – it is constant (and often hard) work – I make things happen!
It is my very own decision to be happy and to enjoy every moment given and make it a blast! You might think “yeah easy said as she has everything she wants and it is just flying towards her!”. Sorry to disappoint you, but you are wrong. Everything I have in my life is because I worked hard for it, I fight for it, I believe in it and I make it happen. And so can you, if you really want to.
So I thought the best way to jump into the new year is with a few reminders of how to make things happen! And as I want you to make your dreams/projects/long-term-
11 WAYS TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN IN 2016
1) STAY POSITIVE.
I can’t stress this enough. Positive thoughts about whatever happens do not only make you look better (as this connects to your health as well) it will also take you easier through any problems and down times. I know you’d might think how easy it is to say that and believe me – I know! But I also do know it helps, actually a lot! Set your mind to positive thoughts and you will feel the difference.
2) DO SPORTS.
Haha, got ya! Not kidding tho. I am not saying ‘Run to the gym 5 times a week, do 1000 push ups a day and run a hundred miles a week’. No what I am saying is: Do some sports. Do whatever you like. If you don’t know which sports you like yet, go and figure it out. Yoga on a sunny beach? Hiking through foggy mountains? Pole dance on the street sign? Or just running in the park? It could be anything, really. But you’ll be surprised from the outcome, because it makes happy! You are more relaxed, you can forget about problems and clear your mind. The adrenalin your body produces pushes you further and motivates you. You will feel better. You have more energy. More focus. And you will make things happen. Oh – and your body will thank you as well.
3) NEVER GIVE UP
There is no such a way as failing. Only if you give up. There is always a way. You might have to adjust the way to your goal or take another leap to reach what you want to achieve. But you don’t want to give up. Because you can do it. You can achieve anything you set your mind for. And you will succeed! There are only two rules in life: #1 Never give up! #2 Never forget rule #1 !
4) 5+4 = 9 SO IS 6+3 – FIND YOUR OWN WAY
It’s about the journey you take to reach your goals, to live your life. It is all about you being happy as then you are in a state to be able to give as much as possible back to others. So you might see that others go a certain way, but that doesn’t mean that’s the right thing for you to do, even if the goal is the same.
5) DECIDE TO BE HAPPY – AND YOU WILL
Don’t believe it? Well you have to try it then. It works. And it is as simply as I wrote it down. But to be honest – sometimes it just feels ridiculous to decide to be happy. Instead to just want it and wait for the happiness to come. But this is not how it works, it would just be easier.
6) YOU ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE
So you are working in this job which is stressing you out already way too long? And then you have this friend who only knocks on your door when she/he needs help but would never return a favor? Well – you got the choice! Quit your job. Find something you love and you are passionate about and build up your own business. Not your thing? Fine, just find the company which is your perfect fit (not the other way round) and get a job with them. Oh you got a family to take care of you say? It’s not the right time to change job now? Oh and this friend helped you once like 5 years back, you don’t really remember what it was, but you think she/he helped you.
Right, now here comes the truth my friend: It is never the right time or the right moment for a change. How long you gonna wait for it? Probably you retire before changing your job and then still finding an excuse why you never tried. But that’s not how it works.
You don’t like that job? Go get a new one. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Nope. Right now is the time for it. Go, make things happen! Oh and that friend of yours, tell him/her to get themselves straight and bring value to the friendship or leave. Why? Cause you ain’t got time for that … you got me.
I am not saying it is easy and I am not saying you can change it in a second with a finger snap. What I am saying is – get your sexy ass out there and do something! Change what you want to change, no one else will do it for you! And if you ask me when the time is right, well it never as been better than now.
I am not sure if I really have to explain that. Do I? Just SMILE! It makes everything better.
8) LISTEN TO YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE
I think often underestimate the effect of music. Music has this very magic influence on us, it can make us feel sad, melancholic, hyperactive, excited but most of all happy. Whenever you feel unmotivated or you need a little adrenalin push, just get your favorite tunes on and dance! You can also sing as loud as possible if you wish to. However you decide, music helps to relax, sets hormones free and makes us feel happy. And the happier we are, the more we make things happen.
So get all your tapes out and rock it!
9) EAT HEALTHY
Oh that’s actually a fun fact as you often see me munching a piece of pizza, some chocolate bars and box of 12 donuts – per day. Not to forget all these fizzy drinks. Ehrm. Well I guess this is one of the major points for me to work on. I actually love to eat everything. But I often catch myself having some fast food or cooking pasta instead something healthy, just because it is faster. Back in Berlin I had a very healthy year, with loads of fresh fish, fresh veggies, fresh fruit fresh, you got my point, fresh foods! And I loved it. But hell yeah it took me loads of time to go food shopping and prepare the meals to be honest. Since I am living and working my way through the world I am still trying to figure out how to combine the freshness and the time factor. But I can assure you it’s worth the effort. You feel much better, with more energy and you look better as your body, especially skin, hair and nails, take all the vitamins – and love ’em. So you better set your alarm for 7am this Saturday and jump over to the farmers market to snatch some great food deals.
10) LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY
There is so much to see, to taste, to hear – to learn. Every day when you leave your house you can see the world with other eyes, and you should. As I love to speak other languages I try to learn new words ever day. But I also take a deeper look at the things around me and check the details. There is always something you have not seen before, as the world changes daily. And it is so much fun to find out about those changes and grow with them. And the best thing about it is, to share it with the ones who are close to you – I love to post pictures on IG just about everything I see, experience, learn and ♥

11) BE KIND AND OPEN MINDED
This should not be an option, this should be your daily task for yourself. In this world people often react with anger, narrow-minded or not at all because they don’t care. But we should. If we want the world to be a better place, you are the one to start changing it right now.
The world is cruel enough – be kind and have an open mind.
